Some Catching Up

I am so far behind. I have made a few things but didn't post about them. So I will try and post a few pix of the various projects I have made.  Also have a few in the works, which is actually an ALWAYS.  I wish I knew how to make this fancy but alas I have no idea so you will just need to deal with this plain Jane sorta set up. Enjoy.

Here is the first project. Sadly, I don't remember the order in which these were made. I guess I could research and figure it out but just don't feel like doing so right now.  Just wanna share.

 Here is my lil girl with a dress and one for her doll Josefina. I need to get a better pix showing the dress but this one will do and besides it is just too cute. What I did was to find a bodice from a pattern that I like and cut out the eyelet but needed to line it as it was too thin. Then made the skirt and attached it.  Had to play around with it  a bit to get it just right. Right now, I am adding a bit of lace to the bottom. Made it to go with an eyelet slip that goes to another dress I made long ago for another daughter (now 22 and on her own) but the dress just doesn't fit my petite miss here so I needed to improvise. And this was the result. Of course, Josefina needed a dress to match. And there is one more doll dress that matches this one for her lil sister's doll.  It is displayed toward the bottom. It is on a tiny cabbage patch that has been passed down. That needed some clothes so now the cabbage patch has an outfit.

Now below is a peasant blouse I sorta designed/improvised. Probably would have been better to start off with the peasant blouse below but ah well, this is how the pix showed up so I went with it.  So, below the the pattern I started with  (lavender peasant blouse) left off the sleeve and made the ruffle from a rectangle using my daughter's measurements.  Next time, I know I need to adjust the underarms and play around with 

the fit. 

But you can tell that even now it does looks so cute on her even though she didn't smile this time, silly girl. I just love the color on her. It looks so pretty with her complexion, made her rosy cheeks stand out.

 Here is the blouse I used minus the sleeves as the base for the above peasant blouse. I made this to go with another slip/skirt that goes to another dress (same said daughter 22 and on her own) that just doesn't fit her younger sister right. See she can smile and what a pretty smile she has.  Gabrielle has been wanting to wear this skirt but we didn't really have anything to go with it  Soooooo  here is the blouse I made to go with it. And she is quite pleased with it.  She actually wore it to school with jeans the other day. Such a nice versatile blouse.

 Here is a dress for Josefina that I started awhile back and finally finished. I think the front was suppose to gather but instead I thought I would pleat it. 
  

  
 Below is the 3rd dress to match the first dress.  I found the pattern on the internet. I can't remember where I would have to look it up again. But I just love how it worked out. Would love to give credit to the person who posted the instructions. If I recalling correctly, I think the name of the site is nomorenakedbabies or some such thing. Lots of ideas there. Love to look around and acquire ideas.
                                                       

 

Here is a nightie for Rosie's baby. I probably need to make one more as with 2 girls I usually, need to make things in duplicate. 

Here is a dress for a waterbaby. Now I know why they need their own patterns. I used a Sewing for Dummies pattern. Do NOT know which doll this will fit around because it is very small in circumference.. So I have decide to add some ribbon to make it an apron/pinafore for the dolls. Turned out really cute. Just not very wearable at this point. So I was kinda disappointed. 

 Ok. That is it for the moment. I do have a couple projects close to completion. A top for Gabrielle and a dress for Gabrielle. Just need to add the finishing touches.   Hope you have enjoyed. :)

Some Matching Outfits for the Girls

Here are some outfits that started the whole sewing thing...well except for the pink twirly skirt(still need to hem that one). I got the doll outfit done first as it was quicker. But it has been great fun to make these outfits. They turned out even cuter than I expected. Now I plan on trying to do the peasant dress for Gabrielle. And all kinds of plans for other cute outfits. It is so fun to sew for girls. But I can not forget my dear son. He hangs looking forlorn and say: "So, when will you make something for me?" So eventually I will need to do something for him. Which will challenge my skills and help to me to get better at sewing (hopefully LOL).

Pretty Bonnet and diaper

Here is the bonnet. I think I should do a bit bigger. It doesn't fit quite right but the doll's head it kinda different. This is my very first bonnet :D The girls were very thrilled with the bonnet. I also made a diaper to match the dress as Gabrielle wanted a diaper and not the bloomers (my husband comments:"You spoil those girls" ) I really enjoy making these things and have discovered I like sewing. Seriously considering trying my hand at quilting. Will definitely start out with something very simple.


Ok now to post the pictures of the diaper for the outfit below. It is a picture for each the front and the back. I used velcro on this diaper instead of the buttons. Hopefully, it will give it a little bit more flexibility in adjustability so that it can fit other dolls. They have so many dolls and they vary so much in size. And now this outfit is complete (at least I think it is LOL) I noticed you can see the back of the bonnet in the picture below :D I think it is supposed to be gathered more but like I said the pattern is a bit small. I need to figure out how to adjust it.

Some New Stuff

Have worked on some more doll clothes. Had to make a Barbie dress. My daughter Gabrielle is more about Barbies than dolls. I used an internet pattern for the bodice and a book pattern for the skirt. I need to work on getting better at the fit. It just has been forever since I made Barbie clothes. It is quite an experience. I think I need to come up with a belt for around the waist to give it a more polished look.

Finally, got the diaper shirt I wanted (this is what I had been looking for originally when I started) that fits the way I want it to. Now to make the matching booties. LOL

Made booties to match the yellow floral dress/shirt with bloomers. They turned out pretty good.

It is neat to see what I can make and then watch my girls enjoy them. They also are durable and washable, which with little girls is an important quality when making dolls clothes. Pin It Now!

Here are 3 of the outfits for baby Martha/Claudette. And 1 outfit for babyElizabeth (a cabbage patch inherited from family-one of the originals 16") The bluefloralwithpinkgingham has already been shown in a previous post but I wanted to show it on the doll. I did a new diaper shirt for the pinkfloral flannel diaper and still have plans to do one more. The doll that is modeling the diaper shirt is a tad bit bigger than baby Martha/Claudette. The yellow dress/shirt with orange flowers with bloomers to match also matches a shirt for my 5 year old Gabrielle and a dress (peasant style not yet finished) for my 2 year old Rosie.Pin It Now!

More and more doll clothes

Just a quick post to post a pix of the latest of the doll clothes I have made :D Only posting one picture at the moment (don't wanna wake the girls sneaking into their room to get the baby to take a picture of the pink bear sweatshirt :D)

Edited: Added a couple of pictures...both pictures of the diaper are of the same diaper showing each side as it is a reversible diaper to go with the dress above. The outfit is a picture of the pink teddybear sweatshirt with pants. Did another diaper shirt for the floral flannel diaper but it is too big for baby Martha/Claudette so I need to make one just a tiny bit smaller. It actually fits but I want it to fit better. It fits another cabbage patch of no name yet (one of the twin ones, well it fits both of them so the diaper/diaper shirt in pink floral flannel actually fits 4 dolls YAY!) Also working on a dress for barbie. Also need to post a picture of a dress in pink gingham that fits American girl and Baby Elizabeth (another older cabbage patch)...but that will be a new post.

Little shirt and matching diaper for baby Martha and baby Claudette

Baby Martha and baby Claudette are tiny cabbage patch babies (about 10 " tall). They are from Aunt Martha from when she visited the special baby hospital. Baby Martha belongs to my 5 year old Gabrielle. And baby Claudette belongs to my 2 year old Rosie. The dolls are matching except one came with pink outfits and the other came with a purple, now marked on the foot with an A for Abigail Rose "Rosie" and a G for Gabrielle. Got the sewing bug again so I started going through patterns and searching the internet for ideas. Started a skirt (will post a picture later) for Gabrielle and want to make a matching one for Rosie, a twirly tiered skirt. In the process decided to make matching outfits for the dolls (too many to name LOL) And dolls all have various sizes. Went searching through my doll patterns and fabrics to come up with ideas for the dolls clothes. Started by using extra fabric for a barbie doll skirt that matches the twirly skirt for Gabrielle. Used another scrap for baby Claudette's skirt. Then found some floral flannel and thought I would try and make a diaper for the dolls, no easy task when you see all the variations of doll diapers and sizes of dolls. Well, I found one that worked out right nice for babies Martha and Claudette. Then to come up with a matching top, so just did a basic little shirt with some lace. Turned out really cute if I do say so myself. Also working on a pink gingham sundress for baby Elizabeth (another cabbage patch from 1984 that at one time belonged to aunt Claudette or grandma not sure who exactly she belonged to, that found her way to our home and is now being cherished by 2 new little girls;Gabrielle named her Elizabeth). It is neat to see what I have made last for a long time and bring joy to my little girls. I also like sewing for dolls because I start an outfit and finish the outfit quickly thus see the results of my work.
